Video: If there’s one takeaway from either the original 1982 TRON movie or the 2010 sequel, Tron: Legacy, it’s that glowing stuff is always kind of cool to look at. To build off this, the talented and creative bakers at Pies Are Awesome managed to make a delicious-looking TRON-themed pie that glows in the dark, but is still safe to eat.
As a kid, you were probably warned not to crack open a glow stick and feast upon the poisonous glowing chemicals inside. So to make an edible glowing pie, the geniuses at Pies Are Awesome mixed some agar-agar — a gelatinous substance derived from algae — with some tonic water and applied it to the pie. Under a black light, the agar/tonic water mixture glows blue, making for an eye-catching dessert that won’t poison your dinner guests.
