Although we never actually saw him, the titular character of The Man in the High Castle played a prominent, overarching role in the first season — but when the show returns, we’ll actually get to see him in action, and Stephen Root will be the one to play him.
Confirmed by Entertainment Weekly, Root (Fargo, Boardwalk Empire) will play The Man, the mysterious figure trying to uncover the secret of the alternate reality where the Nazis didn’t win World War II, while aiding the American Resistance movement attempting to overthrow their Axis occupiers.
Although an equally important figure, the Man in the High Castle didn’t actually appear all that much in Philip K. Dick’s original novel either, so it will be interesting to see what the show does with him when it returns for its second season.
