Over the weekend, we heard that one of the major players of Rogue One would be coming to Star Wars Rebels in an act of movie/TV synergy that should make Marvel executives everywhere hang their damn heads in shame. And now, we've got our first look at insurgent leader Saw Gerrera in action.
In a new featurette revealed through Entertainment Weekly, new details about Saw's appearance in Rebels have been revealed. Forest Whitaker, who played the character in Rogue One, will reprise the role for the show, which will see him team up with Ezra, Kanan, and the rest of the Ghost Crew on a mission that sets up, eventually, the discovery of the Death Star's construction, according to series director David Filoni.
It's a lovely connection to the movie, given that Rogue One has already got a good few connections to Rebels in it, and also because Saw first appeared in his younger days on Rebels' predecessor Clone Wars. This is a totally great way to tie in all of the different areas of Star Wars media we've got at the moment into the wider picture in the galaxy far, far, away.
Saw will make his Rebels debut in a two-episode story that begins on January 7.
