Humans No Longer Caused Climate Change, According To The US State Of Wisconsin

In late December, Wisconsin’s Department of Natural Resources removed language which asserted that humans are responsible for climate change from its website. The US government site now reads, “As it has done throughout the centuries, the earth is going through a change. The reasons for this change at this particular time in the earth’s long history are being debated.”

(It’s not.)

Formerly titled “Climate Change and Wisconsin’s Great Lakes”, the page on the site used to correctly assert that “human activities that increase heat — trapping (‘green house’) gases are the main cause” of climate change. The Wisconsin DNR also deleted two other pages from its site with information about climate change.

The page used to include a link to a climate change activity guide for high school students, which has also been removed. Deleting the education guides from the site is especially sinister — how are we going to teach the next generation how to care for our earth if the government doesn’t want them to know what’s actually happening?

A DNR spokesman told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:

[The] updated page reflects our position on this topic that we have communicated for years, that our agency regularly must respond to a variety of environmental and human stressors from drought, flooding, wind events to changing demographics….

As you know the causes and effects of any changes in climate are still being debated and research on the matter is being done in academic circles outside DNR.

While disturbing, the DNR’s decision to remove accurate literature about climate change from its website isn’t too surprising. When Wisconsin’s governor Scott Walker ran for the Republican US presidential nomination, he was called “the most dangerous candidate on climate change”.

2017 looks bleaker than ever.
