We Finally Know Who’s Playing Steppenwolf, The Villain in Justice League

Earlier this year, it was revealed that Steppenwolf, the character cut out of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, would be the main villain in Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Now we know who is playing him.

It’s Ciaran Hinds, who you know from, well, basically everything. He was Mance Rayder on Game of Thrones and Aberforth Dumbledore in Harry Potter, and also appeared in Road to Perdition, Munich, There Will Be Blood, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, John Carter, you get the idea.

According to The Wrap, which broke the news, Hinds has already completed his filming, which was done through performance capture. Also, the character will look different than he did in the deleted scene from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, seen below.

In Justice League, Steppenwolf will be going after the Mother Boxes, which hold the keys to the universe. “[He’s] a bad guy that would justify the Justice League,” Snyder told us on the set. “I think you have to have a good threat that’s fun and kinda crazy. And the Mother Boxes are always fun DC weird tech, you know?”

Justice League hits theatres 16 November 2017.
