The ISP ‘For Gamers’ Comes To Australia With A $60 Unlimited NBN Plan

MyRepublic, touting itself as the ISP “for gamers”, hits Australia on 15 November with a 100Mbps unlimted NBN plan for $59.99 per month. Here’s everything we know so far.

As my new favourite commenter Tom Haynes says “I’ll probably even be able to afford that on my old age pension by the time the NBN reaches me here 15 km from the centre of the 6th largest city in Australia.”

MyRepublic says its network is optimised for low latency and custom routing, marketed squarely at gamers and streamers the ultimate gaming experience.

“The MyRepublic Gamer plan is specifically engineered to directly deal with the current pain points many Australian gamers are facing today, including latency, connection instability, bandwidth caps and slow uploads or downloads,” said Nicholas Demos, Managing Director of MyRepublic Australia.

If you’re at PAX Australia this weekend, you’ll be able to pre-register for a “limited edition” (one of 500) MyRepublic GAMER PS4 Pro fibre broadband bundle for $59.99 per month, with unlimited downloads and uploads at up to 100 Mbps/40 Mbps (“the fastest NBN speed available at the customers location”), $200 off the new PlayStation4 Pro, and a high-speed Wi-Fi Modem for $1.

“MyRepublic has always been enabling people to enjoy the ultimate online experience,” said Malcolm Rodrigues, CEO of MyRepublic. “We are excited to be launching in Australia later this month and believe that our entry will drive a new era of internet connectivity in Australia, similar to what it did in Singapore, New Zealand and Indonesia.”

More information about the rest of MyRepublic’s plans will be available on launch – we will keep you updated as we learn more.
