Last we heard, the incredibly rare Nike Mags self-lacing sneakers, which first appeared in Back to the Future II, were selling for over $130,000. So we were hopeful that the Nike HyperAdapt 1.0 shoes, which feature the same self-lacing technology, would be an affordable alternative. But unfortunately that’s not the case.
According to Hypebeast, when the Nike Hyperadapt 1.0 shoes officially go on sale on November 28 in your choice of Deep Black, Crisp White or Smooth Grey colour options, each pair will set you back $US1000 ($1326). Definitely cheaper than what the Air Mags are selling for on eBay, but it’s far from affordable for all but the most obsessive sneaker collectors.
However, even at a $1300 a pair, these shoes will probably still be incredibly hard to find at the end of the month. So for the time being, it’s probably not a bad idea to keep your dream of owning a pair of self-lacing sneakers a dream, at least until they’re a little more affordable.
Update: According to NiceKicks, Nike’s Hyperadapt 1.0 sneakers will actually be available starting on December 1 for $US720 ($971), which is still expensive for an unproven new shoe technology.
