New Hidden Figures Trailer Shows The Pain And Joy Of The Black Women Who Helped America Go To Space

Video: You know the phrase “laughing to keep from crying?” There’s a bunch of that in the new teaser for the upcoming movie about the unheralded women who were important contributors to NASA’s early days.

The latest Hidden Figures shows the friendship and challenges faced by scientists Katherine Johnson (Taraji P. Henson), Dorothy Vaughan (Octavia Spencer) and Mary Jackson (Janelle Monae). The scene where Johnson’s daughters say that it feels she’s been gone for 300 hours is a heartbreaker, but also shows how much these women must have sacrificed to help achieve the impossible.

Hidden Figures is out 16 February 2017.
