Lunch Time Deals: 30% Off A 55-Inch Philips LED TV

When you’re buying your lunch today, you might want to take a moment and spend a little more. Gizmodo’s Lunch Time Deals posts point out any particularly good bargains for Aussie bargain hunters around the ‘net. Today, JB Hi-Fi has cut the price of a 55-inch Philips LCD TV by a fair whack, bringing it down to just under $700.

The Philips 55PFT5201 is a pretty decent TV if you look at its spec sheet: built around a 1920x1080pixel 55-inch LED-backlit LCD panel, the screen has three HDMI inputs as well a bunch of analog connectors. It has a USB port to play downloaded photos, videos and music, too. It’s 55 inches of Perfectly Reasonable TV, and unless you’re planning on regularly inviting friends over for blockbuster movie night, it’ll show you all the free-to-air TV and streaming Netflix or Stan or Presto you could hope for.

JB Hi-Fi usually sells this telly for a shade under $1000, but at the moment it’s slashed another 30 per cent off, bringing the 55-inch Philips 55PFT5201’s price down to just $698. For the size of the screen that you’re getting, that’s a pretty impressive price. If you were thinking of getting a second screen for the home office or kid’s playroom or bathroom, and you don’t need the smart bells and whistles of a Sony or Samsung or LG, we’d give this Philips a close look.
