This Power Rangers Movie Toy Gives Us Our First Real Look At A Dinozord

We’ve had a fleeting glimpse of all of the individual Zords in the Power Rangers movie thanks to the recent teaser posters, but the first reveal of toys from the film has given us our first full look at one: Jason’s Tyrannosaurus Dinozord. It, like everything else in this movie, is a bit different than you’d expect.

Three new toys from the film have been revealed through the Power Rangers franchise’s official site, Ranger Nation — the team’s morpher, Jason’s red ranger sword, and lastly the Tyrannosaurus Dinozord, now seemingly named the “T-Rex Battle Zord.”

The morpher actually looks pretty cool, and while the sword is a big departure from its look in the original show, it fits in with the more scifi/alien look of the Rangers’ armour in the new movie. The Zord though… hmmm.

It’s hard to critique it too much, as after all, it’s a cheap toy version rather than the final product, so to speak. The movie version will obviously look nicer, and we don’t know what’s actually part of the design and what’s been added for the toy (case in point, the giant gun on its back). Even then, it’s not really got a patch on this badass:

Now that is a Dinozord.

The good news is that the toy is described as both coming to toy shelves soon and as being able to combine with the four other Zords to form the Megazord — so it might not be long before we get to see the team’s full mecha from the film, even if it’s in toy form. It will be interesting to see how all these alien designs come together to make it.
