This Russian Rogue One Poster Puts The War In Star Wars

The posters for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story have already been pretty great. Even the fan made ones have been good. But attendees at a Comic-Con in Russia were just given a brand new poster that tells a story all its own — a story about a brutal war and its costs.

This Russian Rogue One Poster Puts The War In Star Wars

If you’re doubting that this is real, we confirmed with Lucasfilm that it is.

What strikes me most about this poster is it’s the first official one that hasn’t featured the Death Star. Instead, we just get the empty helmet of a Rebel Trooper, with an army of Stormtroopers in hot pursuit. Has the Rebel been killed? Did he just lose his helmet? In a single image, this poster tells a hell of a story.

There’s also that 12+ Rating, which isn’t much of a surprise. The surprise is that it suggests people have seen a version of the movie finished enough to actually give a rating three months out. Interesting. Though the Russians ratings system may not work the same way as in Australia or the US, so it’s possible no one has seen the movie yet, as per this Twitter user.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story opens December 15.
