‘This Is Your Brain On Drugs’ Guy Endorses Recreational Marijuana

Almost 30 years ago, actor John Roselius filmed the now-iconic “This Is Your Brain on Drugs” PSA for the Partnership for a Drug-Free America. Today, Roselius says he’s still sometimes recognised as the “Egg Guy” — and is voting “yes” on a California ballot measure legalizing recreational marijuana.

“I’m 100 per cent behind legalizing it, are you kidding?” Roselius told Rooster Magazine. “It’s healthier than alcohol. And the violence is 99 per cent down from alcohol.”

One of the most recognisable voices against drug abuse speaking in favour of recreational pot serves as a telling sign of the rapidly shifting attitudes about the substance in America, where reaffirm marijuana’s status as a Schedule I narcotic (like heroin) with “no currently accepted medical use and a high potential for abuse.”

Ironically, Roselius says he was struggling with alcoholism when the famous anti-drug ad was recorded, leaving his memories of the “Any Questions?” spot hazy. Now, he has a different question for America.

“You ever noticed when you smoked weed, how music is?” said Roselius. “I was smoking a joint, and I was listening to a stereo and I thought I was the drum. And I’m laughing and laughing and I’m happy. I’m the drum. I’m the drum! You understand? And nobody was punching anybody in the face or calling you an m-f’er.”
