The Creator Of Teen Wolf Is Bringing A War Of The Worlds Show To MTV

MTV’s Teen Wolf is coming to an end next year, so the network has turned to that show’s creator to fill the upcoming void. And Jeff Davis, along with writer Andrew Cochran, has another familiar property in mind, one that has way more of a legacy than the Michael J. Fox movie: H.G. Wells’ The War of the Worlds.

The alien-invasion tale, which turns 120 years old next year and enters the public domain this December, has been frequently adapted already — most famously as a radio drama performed by Orson Welles in 1938, and as a Steven Spielberg-Tom Cruise blockbuster in 2005. There’s no word on what this latest take on The War of the Worlds might look like, other than the fact that it’s a “reboot” and, if the pilot is picked up, it will air on MTV. So there are some clues there… we can probably guess that the show will be set in the present day, and we can definitely assume it will have a ridiculously good-looking young cast. (It doesn’t appear to be tied to another potential TV adaptation announced late last year.)

As it happens, Davis already has another genre “reboot” in the works elsewhere; he’s also the guy behind TNT’s series based on vampire tale Let the Right One In.
