Lunch Time Deals: $400 Off A Dell Laptop

When you’re buying your lunch today, you might want to take a moment and spend a little more. Gizmodo’s Lunch Time Deals posts point out any particularly good bargains for Aussie bargain hunters around the ‘net. Today, JB Hi-Fi has an Instant Deal that cuts a third off the price of a half-decent Dell laptop.

If you walked into a JB and found yourself this 15.6-inch Dell Inspiron 15 5000 Series, you’d be paying nearly $1200. That’s not a bad price for what is a pretty decent laptop for everyday — non-gaming — use, but this week’s JB Hi-Fi Instant Deal is for a $400 off coupon, slashing the price to $798.

As everyday laptops go, this Inspiron 15 isn’t bad at all. It’s got a mid-range Intel Core i7-6500U processor and a relatively recent AMD Radeon M335 graphics card, and it’s only slightly hampered by the low 8GB of RAM and slow 1TB hard drive — both things that can be upgraded in a few years if it starts to slow down. Go into a store to check out the quality of its screen before you buy one, but if you’re looking for a cheap Web browsing machine you could do a lot worse. [JB Hi-Fi]
