GoCatch’s Ridesharing Service Launches In Melbourne Today

GoCatch says its ridesharing fares are at least five per cent cheaper than Uber (based on set peak and off-peak rates), and never surge or change unexpectedly due to demand. And from today it will launch in the Melbourne CBD, Richmond, Prahran and St. Kilda areas.

GoCatch has been running a taxi booking service since 2011, and earlier this year launched ridesharing in Sydney and Brisbane.

CEO David Holmes says GoCatch has worked closely with the Victorian government and the Taxi Services Commission to “level the playing field” while aiming to make transport convenient, safe and accessible for passengers.

“Our ridesharing service will work in partnership with our established base of local taxi drivers. We want to support any and all drivers who are providing quality services to their passengers, especially on Melbourne Cup Day, when you just want to get a safe ride home,” added Mr Holmes.

There’s also $20 off your first booking as an extra incentive.

If you’re keen to become a driver, you can register via the website — you’ll need to upload necessary paperwork and compliance documents, as well as photos of your vehicle for inspection. Then you’ll watch a training video and complete a quiz. Applications are reviewed within 24 hours.
