Plus, director Scott Garrison is thinking ahead to the Doctor Strange sequel. Some Batman rumours you didn’t know existed get shot down. We have out first look at Orphan Black‘s fifth and final season. Plus The Punisher TV series and Aquaman. Spoilers, ho!
The Batman
An “insider” told The Wrap neither of the al’ Ghuls, that is, Talia and Ra’s, will be in the film, not that we had any reason to expect them to be there.
Star Wars: Episode VIII
A new rumour suggests there will be an extra evil Stormtrooper referred to as “The Executioner”. His helmet will feature “a matte black line that goes over half his mask on one side” and he’ll bear a new weapon that is “not unlike [Finn’s former platoon-mate] FN-2199’s at the handle” but also “has three spinning blades on the end that are said to be like something out of Phantasm“.
Star Wars: Rogue One
According to Gareth Edwards, Krennic is a more blue-collar version of Grand Moff Tarkin:
It feels like if the Empire ever have a job vacancy, they go to the Royal Shakespeare Company to headhunt people. I like the idea that Ben’s character was much more working-class and rose in the ranks through sheer force of personality and ideas.
Aquaman
James Wan has some surprisingly generic words on the Aquaman/Mera relationship:
It starts off initially with them not quite clicking with each other. But then as the story progresses as they learn to try and work together, they get closer and closer. I think those stories are always such a great place for a filmmaker like myself to have fun with my actors… I think that dynamic will be really interesting between the two.
Not that we aren’t excited for Aquaman, but “It starts off initially with them not quite clicking with each other. But then as the story progresses as they learn to try and work together” describes what happens in 90 per cent of films.

Doctor Strange
Director Scott Derrickson clearly has some ideas for the inevitable sequel.
What made The Dark Knight so great was that the origin story of Batman had been well-told, and then it was time to bring in a villain where you really got to go deep. And not just the Joker, also Two-Face. It was a more visceral experience, I’d love to be able to do that for Doctor Strange. I love the character, I love the visual possibilities, and I know the comics so well — [the first movie is] the tip of an iceberg. There’s so much progress that can be made.
Untitled Demonic Real Estate Movie
Platinum Dunes has hired Michael Chaves to direct “the dark tale of a real estate agent who will stop at nothing to close the sale on a demonic mansion”. The ever-reliable Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunston are writing the screenplay.

Hannibal
Mads Mikkelson doesn’t think a movie will happen.
They did. They did talk about it [but] let’s be frank: in my world, I don’t see that [happening]. They could surprise me and I’ll be on, but I think that [world] is created for and is perfect for that universe where you can build up slowly, where you don’t have to deliver constantly, where you can bring the audience to you.

The Terranauts
The Big Bang Theory‘s Jim Parsons will produce a new CW series based on Zach Helm novel.
The Terranauts is described as an epic story of science, society, sex, survival and, ultimately, human folly and ambition. Said to be inspired by the Biosphere 2 real-life experiment, the story revolves around eight scientists enlisted to run a biosphere that will prove vital for humanity’s survival in an off-Earth colony. Their goal is to successfully create a sustainable environment to house generations to come, but things don’t quite go as planned.
