“Technical difficulties” have stopped the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) opening for trade today.
“ASX advises that there will be a delay with the opening of the ASX equities market,” the ASX website reads. “We are working to resolve this matter and updates will be provided as they become available”.
Update: The ASX is now trading again.
An ASX spokesperson told Business Insider Australia the issue lies with “a component that allows ASX to manage individual stocks”.
At 11:05 the official ASX Twitter account gave an update into the situation:
ASX advises that the ASX Equities Market will proceed to Pre – Open at 11.10am and Open from 11.30am.

But there is still no explanation as to what actually happened.
