Kirstie Alley Is The Perfect Addition To Scream Queens, The Campiest Show On TV

Ryan Murphy’s horror spoof Scream Queens returns for its second season in the US on September 20. We already knew it would shift settings — from sorority house to hospital — and add new actors, since half the cast was killed off last season. Just announced: Kirstie Alley, of Cheers, Dancing With the Stars and The Wrath of Khan.

Deadline reports on Alley’s role, working in the medical facility run by Jamie Lee Curtis’ character:

At the C.U.R.E. Institute, where some of the most fascinating and bizarre medical cases are under observation, Alley will play a brilliant and devious administrator.

“Devious” being the key word here. Scream Queens 2 is shaping up to be a weekly scenery-chewing throwdown between returnees Curtis and Niecy Nash, and newcomers Alley and John Stamos. Alley’s character is described as a “series regular”, which would seem to indicate that she won’t be a one-episode victim of stunt casting who gets offed in some spectacular manner. With any luck, her presence will take even more focus off the dreaded Chanels.

Scream Queens airs on Channel Eleven in Australia.
