This is a nice surprise. It seems the original Iron Man director, Jon Favreau, will reprise his on-screen role as Tony Stark’s driver Happy Hogan in Spider-Man: Homecoming.
Favreau played the role in all three Iron Man movies (the first two of which he also directed) but has yet to appear in any other Marvel Cinematic Universe films. That will change with Homecoming, according to Variety.
Of course, we already knew Robert Downey, Jr. would be appearing as Tony Stark in the film, so Happy being with him isn’t a huge surprise. What will be a surprise is to find out how the duo fits into a larger story featuring Spider-Man, the Vulture and others. You’ll also remember it was Tony Stark who not only recruited Peter Parker into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (as seen in Captain America: Civil War), but built his suit too.
Directed by Jon Watts and starring Tom Holland, Spider-Man: Homecoming opens in the US on 7 July 2017.
