KFC’s Latest Marketing Gimmick Is A Snack Box With A Built-In Phone Charger

You have to hand it to KFC. When it comes to marketing, it’s not afraid to ooze creativity, in much that same way its chicken oozes… well, whatever gelatinous substance it’s fried in. Its latest concoction is a snack box that incorporates a USB charger, so you and your gadgets can obtain sustenance simultaneously.

Cooked up by KFC’s Indian arm, the “Watt-A-Box” is a limited edition meal container that includes a 6100mAh battery and cables for micro-USB and Lighting ports.

Sounds… interesting. But how well does it perform? BGR got a hold of one and the results were not good:

The power bank claims to have a 6100mAh battery but the claims fell short during our brief test. We put an iPhone 5s to charge, which gained 17 percent battery after charging for half-an-hour. But the downside was that the power bank was drained during this process. We recharged the power bank to 100 percent and tried to charge a Redmi Note 3. But the power bank ran out of juice again with the phone gaining just 7 percent of charge.

Well, no one was expecting Tesla-like performance, but you’d think it would do better than that. At least the KFC fingernail polish was edible.
