Ford’s Everest Gets A Sync3 Upgrade Later This Year

Sync 3 is Ford’s new in-vehicle communications and entertainment platform that features Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, faster performance, more conversational voice recognition, an intuitive smartphone-like touchscreen and an improved graphic user interface.

It aims to combine the best features of the current system with new technologies, and will become standard on Ford’s Everest Titanium and Everest Trend SUVs.

The 8-inch touchscreen has capacitive touch technology which allows “pinch and swipe” capability on some features, in a similar way to a smartphone or a tablet.

The new home screen features a clearer layout and large icons for quicker access to functions including audio system, climate control, smartphone (including compatible apps) and satellite navigation (where fitted).

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration means you’ll have access to Siri and Google Now, and compatible apps include Spotify, Pandora and Google Maps.

Ford are aiming for more customisable and easier-to-navigate settings and user preferences with the Sync 3.

The continued developement of the Everest “demonstrates how local innovation and high-tech design continues to be expanded locally through Ford’s extensive product development operations,” Ford says. “Ford is home to 1100 innovative engineers and designers, with the company set to become the largest auto employer in the nation after 2017.”
