Valiant Cinematic Universe

Jason David Frank — best known for his role as Tommy Oliver across various series of the Power Rangers franchise — has started teasing his involvement in a mystery project with the company, posting the publisher’s logo to social media:

It could be, of course, that he’s somehow linked to a comics project, but considering that talk about turning Valiant comics into movies has been swirling for a while now, it might be more on the movie side of things.

Transformers: The Last Knight

Mitch Pileggi has taken to Twitter to confirm that he’s part of the film:

Ghostbusters

Melissa McCarthy tells The Hollywood Reporter she’s up for more Ghostbusters movies:

I would do 102 more of these. I will literally show up for [director] Paul Feig and these women no matter what. I’ll show up for plays in a backyard.

The Umbrella Academy

Writer/director Rawson Marshal Thurber says his script based on the Dark Horse comic about a family of dysfunctional superheroes is perhaps currently too unique to be filmed:

Umbrella Academy is far and away the best script I’ve ever written, and my personal favourite book, graphic novel. I just thought what Gerard Way did and Gabriel Bá was nothing short of art, and I wrote my guts out trying to write a script that was worthy of what they did.

I think ultimately, on the feature side, I don’t think there’s much hope for that movie to get made. It was just I think too challenging — which seems sort of strange to say in a world in which every third movie is a superhero movie. But just, I think this one might have been a bridge too far, and the thing that makes ‘Umbrella Academy’ so special and so unique, in order to spend that kind of money to make a movie, most financiers would want to round off the edges and change the thing that makes it so special, to kind of make it fit into a different box.

Christopher Walken is a cat whisperer in a new clip from the “Kevin Spacey turns into a cat” movie.

Supergirl

Tyler Hoechlin tells the Daily Mail about how he plans to approach playing Superman in the show, in comparison to past takes on the Man of Tomorrow:

I never try to compare and contrast performances because it’s such an iconic character already. Superman is Superman so I’m just going to try to carry on the tradition of that and play that part.

I think the fun is going to be finding where Clark Kent is in this world. I’m just excited to find out Clark’s sense of humour.

Legends of Tomorrow

Marc Guggenheim teases that the revelation of season two’s villain will come slowly in comparison to season one:

Unlike season 1 of Legends, where we basically had the big bad introduced in the crossover, what we’re going to do in season 2 of Legends will be more similar to what you’ve experienced in the first three seasons of Arrow or the first two seasons of Flash, where it’s more of a slow reveal and a little bit of a mystery
