Ant-Man And The Wasp Isn’t Just A Superhero Movie, It’s A Team Movie

Independence Day 3 may already be on the way. Deadpool 2 is definitely on the way. How the Flash messing up the timeline in his TV show has made one actor’s return very confusing. And the Suicide Squad movie receives its own bad theme song. Spoilers, yo!

Independence Day 3

Roland Emmerich’s already thinking about a sequel to Resurgence, and he doesn’t want to wait another 20 years to make it:

The next one will be an intergalactic journey. It will be [set] maybe a year or two later, not 20 years [on]. I want to maintain this group of people, especially the young characters, and Jeff [Goldblum] and Brent [Spiner] will take part in it. It will be fun to keep that group together. I imagine them now going in one of these ships they have rebuilt into a wormhole. I think it will be the classic of going into space but it has to be about Earth, and we have a really good idea for that.

Ant-Man & The Wasp

Peyton Reed has some rather vague things to say about where the Ant-Man sequel will find Scott Lang:

Well he’s a fugitive in most of the first Ant-Man movie. He’s just a bigger fugitive now. I think that’s one of the fun things and challenges about the Marvel movies for us, for the directors and for the writers, is you do have to sort of consider what happened in the previous movies in terms of your jumping-off point for those characters. It’s something we talked a lot about early on and we definitely have stuff figured out, so there will be some big leaps forward.

But he did stress that Hope Van Dyne’s Wasp is no longer just a supporting character, which is why she gets to share top-billing this time around:

It’s something we’re excited about. For me as a comic nerd, I always thought of Ant-Man and Wasp as a team and that’s a lot of what the second movie is really about is how they work together, what their personal and professional relationships are like. To show her finally fully formed in this movie is really exciting. We really get to introduce this character into that universe. I mean we’ve introduced the character, but we haven’t seen her with her full power set and everything, so to me she’s not a supporting character in this movie. It’s every bit as much her movie as it is Scott Lang’s.

Wonder Woman

During a press junket in London, Gal Gadot remarked how the Wonder Woman movie chronicles Diana’s journey from Themyscira to the battlefields of World War I serves as a coming-of-age tale:

The Wonder Woman that you will see on the solo movie, she’s different. It’s the coming-of-age story, it’s about her [becoming] an adult, really. From a child to an adult, and understanding the complexities of life.

Batgirl

Nicholas Winding Refn, director of Drive and the critically divisive The Neon Demon, has told Business Insider he’d be keen to make a Batgirl film:

God, I would love to make [a superhero movie], it would probably be great fun. I just don’t know when it’s going to happen. I very much enjoy my freedom, creatively, but I also would love to make one of those big Hollywood films that costs a lot of money and has a lot of people running around with cell phones and all that insanity. What ones are left? You know the one I want to do? I want to make Batgirl. Let’s get Warner working on it.

Suicide Squad

Lil Wayne, Wiz Khalifa and Imagine Dragons have released this music video for “Sucker for Pain”, the new single which serves as Suicide Squad’s unofficial theme song. The music video is below. It may or may not include new footage from the movie, but even if it does it’s probably not worth listening to the song to see it. Promise.

Once Upon a Time

Sinbad and Scheherezade, stars of the Arabian books of myths and folklore One Thousand and One Nights, will join the show for season six and are currently being cast. Also, the first episode of the upcoming season has been titled “The Saviour”.

The Flash

Violett Beane will returns as Jesse Wells, daughter of Tom Cavanaugh’s Harrison Weels, for season three. But given that she and her father returned to Earth-2 just before the Flash rewrote the timeline, she isn’t sure how she’ll be back, or whether she’ll have the speed powers that eventually earn her the moniker Jesse Quick.
