Android Pay’s debut in Australia has been in the works for months and if rumours are to be believed, the service could begin trials as early as this week. Somewhat surprisingly however, just one of the big four will be involved in the launch.

A story by Daniel Tyson over at Ausdroid suggests that only ANZ will have support for Android Pay when it arrives locally, with trials reportedly coming online in the next couple of days.
If you don’t do business with Westpac, NAB or Commonwealth, then the news is potentially brighter, with a healthy number of alternative banks and credit unions on the debut list.
This includes Community First, Bendigo Bank, Select Mutual and ING, among many others.
As Tyson points out, the exclusion of Westpac is interesting, as the bank was to be a partner when Google Pay’s Australian arrival was announced in late 2015.
We may hear news from the missing parties in the next few weeks as the full launch gears up, but if they still decided to stick it out as non-participants, would you consider switching banks?
