The Horror Slowly Builds In This Short Film, Daddy’s Girl

This short film opens quietly, with a pair of atmospheric shots that set up this magnificent, dark story. This is horror at its best: slow, brooding and holding off on the terror until the last possible moment.

The story follows a prison guard after he gets off of work. When he discovers a bicycle on the road, he sets off to investigate the whereabouts of its owner.

What really works well here is just how quiet it is. This isn’t a horror film that’s set to scare you with jump shots; rather, its long takes build up the tension little by little. The simmering tension makes you think the worst, right up to the surprising end.
