New Luke Cage Set Pictures Give Us A Look At A Classic Comics Villain

Luke Cage will have some familiar friends and foes showing up when his own Netflix show begins later this year — and new set pictures give us our first, rather weird look at a one of those familiar foes in action.

New Luke Cage Set Pictures Give Us A Look At A Classic Comics Villain

Pictures from filming have made their way to social media giving us our first look at Erik LaRay Harvey in costume as Willis Stryker, AKA Diamondback (not to be confused with the Serpent Society member called Diamondback, Rachel Leighton). Stryker was a gang-affiliated villain in the Luke Cage, Hero for Hire series who first appeared in the early ’70s.

The images, which feature Luke and Stryker facing off against each other, reveal that the Diamondback look will be a blend of new and old elements — the unzipped jacket revealing a striped yellow undershirt is an homage to the character’s classic look from the comics, but the weirdly-out-of-place looking helmet is new.

Luke Cage is set to drop on Netflix on September 30.
