Marvel Swears It’s Going To Make The Inhumans Movie Eventually

When Marvel dropped the Inhumans movie off its release schedule entirely, many started to wonder if the company’s big push for the not-mutants-but-sorta group of heroes was in trouble. Fear not, though! Kevin Feige says the movie is still happening… at some point. Probably.

Feige’s comments come from a new interview with Empire Magazine’s film podcast, in which Feige acknowledges the news but promises that Inhumans is still a movie that Marvel wants on its roster — just not in the current phase of films.

The only situation right now is that [Inhumans] is not gonna be a part of phase three because phase three increased in a very good way since we initially announced. When and where and how it pops up remains to be seen but its characters we love, it a storyline we love and we just didn’t want to cram it in to an already quite full phase three.

It makes sense, considering Phase 3 was bolstered by the arrival of Spider-Man into Marvel’s roster, on top of Ant-Man and the Wasp. Introducing a whole extra subsection of the Marvel universe in the same set of films that builds up to the big mishmash mania of Infinity War could’ve been more than a little challenging.

But it does mean that if you were looking forward to seeing Black Bolt, Karnak, Medusa and the rest of the Inhuman royal family on the big screen, you’re going to be waiting a long while. Marvel’s “Phase 4” will be beginning in 2020, so it will be at least another four years… if not longer. Given all the pushes Marvel has given Inhumans surrounding the release of this film, can they still maintain interest by then? We’ll have to wait and see.
