Just How Many Villains Are In The Standalone Batman Movie?

Ewan McGregor throws water on Obi-Wan movie rumours. Jon Favreau may be returning to the director’s seat at Marvel. 10 Cloverfield Lane‘s director heads to Black Mirror. Plus more Power Rangers filming, even more footage from Civil War and a new clip from Agents of SHIELD. Spoilers get!

Devin Faraci of Birth Movies Death reported that the standalone film could feature appearances by almost every major member of Batman’s gigantic rogue’s gallery of villains. While details on the “main” villain have yet to arrive, Faraci posited that much of Batman’s villainous roster will appear in various cameos and larger roles in the film, as part of a push to have the Batman universe already well established by the time the movie is set.

Ewan McGregor squashed the repeated rumours of a young Obi-Wan movie, saying his previous comments in support were not because he knew a movie was happening, or was campaigning for it to happen:

If they asked me to, I would be happy to. But it looks like I am campaigning for it, just because I get asked about it, all the time. So, I would like it to be known that I don’t bring it up, at these interviews, of my own free will. I only respond to questions I’m asked to. I don’t know anything about it. They have never approached me about it.

Jon Favreau teased a major return to Marvel beyond his producer credit on Infinity War:

It’s 10 years later, and now I’m more of an elder statesman. But we talk a lot about how I could be involved there, and I exist both in front of and behind the camera in the Marvel Universe, which puts me in a unique position which I enjoy. We’re always trying to figure out if there’s a way for me to contribute beyond just being an executive producer there…

…I wouldn’t be surprised if something pops up soon. But there’s no one property that we’re identifying that I’d want to helm up and shoulder. Because now that the universe has gotten so big over there, I don’t know that I understand how it all fits together anymore. I was there in the early days when the universe was very small. Now the universe is very big there and they seem to have it well in hand.
