This Character Was He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named While Filming Game Of Thrones Season 6

The production team was eager to keep one very big plot point from Game of Thrones’ sixth season under wraps — and they went to some pretty crazy lengths to do so, like banning this character’s name.

Jon Snow Was He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named While Filming Game of Thrones Season 6

According to Entertainment Weekly‘s extensive coverage of the return of Jon Snow, during filming his new scenes the cast and crew were forbidden from uttering “Jon Snow” on set at all. The only time the words were allowed to leave someone’s lips was during scenes where Jon’s name had to be said as part of dialogue.

So how did they refer to the character? They simply gave him the nickname “LC”, in reference to Jon’s old title as Lord Commander. Actor Kit Harington was also forced to use the same nickname, as cast and crew was ordered to refer to him as “LC” too, such as when he was called to set, just in case someone not working on the show might accidentally overhear it. (The cute codename didn’t stop people from finding out about Jon’s return well before the latest episode’s “shocking” cliffhanger, though.)

Melisandre actress Carice van Houten, who was apparently forced spend a great deal of time washing Kit Harington’s naked body as part of last week’s resurrection scene, gave the “LC” acronym a far naughtier meaning. Our wonderful sister site Jezebel posited that it was likely “Long Cock” — however, we’d love to hear your possible candidates in the comments.
