Intriguing New Details About Batman’s Role In Suicide Squad

Suicide Squad

Batman News has a new report on the Caped Crusader’s role in the film. According to them, Batman does not interact with the entirety of the cast, but mainly Deadshot and Harley Quinn.

Batman appears in two scenes with Deadshot, one as a flashback, and the other is described as an “emotional” encounter. Meanwhile, Batman’s interaction with Harley has been hinted at in the trailers with the chase scene between the Batmobile and the Joker’s souped-up supercar — culminating in Batman fishing Quinn out of the car after it crashes into a river.

Batman

For what feels like the millionth time, Geoff Johns has confirmed that yes, he is indeed working on the film with Ben Affleck (in a manner beyond Affleck playing Batman):

I do get to say I’m working on Batman with Ben Affleck. That gets the Thanksgiving table excited, especially my brother.

Shazam

Producer Hiram Garcia offers Comicbook.com an update on the film:

We kind of floated some names around [for casting Shazam] but nothing is locked in. Right now, the focus, the sole focus is getting the story right. Getting the story really, really good and then the rest will be able to fall in line.

He also further added that the film will emphasise a fun tone:

That whole world, as well as Black Adam as you start looking into Black Adam, so our take on that world is first and foremost, movies like that can be grounded and can have real stakes but can still be fun.

That’s the place we always want it to come from. We have a character in Shazam that is a boy who is in this man’s body who is having the ultimate fulfillment that I think all comic book fans and everyone can associate with. Like, what if you wake up one day and you can just do all this great stuff? And then on the other side, you have this force of nature who is really anchored by what he lost in his family and that thread that he’s bringing with him throughout this journey. There’s a real grounding there. That combination of youth and enthusiasm and being in new to a world and then the place that Adam’s coming from. It makes for a great dynamic that not only allows us to have not only real stakes, real story, and real emotion, but a ton of fun in the process. There’s no reason that there should ever be a version of this story told that’s devoid of that. That’s our goal in doing this: following the path of the films that have been coming out and have done such a good job.

Black Panther

A casting call that cropped up on the handily named moviecastingcall.org purports to have a complete description of the film’s main cast of characters. It’s an incredibly suspicious veritable host of characters from across Black Panther’s comic history, with everyone from Man-Ape to White Wolf appearing — so take it with a pinch of salt.

Avengers: Infinity War

To the surprise of no one, screenwriter Christopher Markus hinted to Nerdist that the Guardians of the Galaxy will indeed be in the film:

Let me put it this way. You know who owns that gauntlet, right? And you know who’s in another movie, whose kids are in that movie… You do the maths!

X-Men: Apocalypse

The latest TV spot features Nightcrawler getting brain freeze.

Warcraft

Rob Kazinksy goofs around on the set of the film in a new featurette.

Sausage Party

Seth Rogen imitates Walt Disney in a new promo.

Star Trek: Beyond

Chris Pine describes a scene during a set visit from Slash Film:

What did we do the other day? We were in some dark places of the ship and it was slanted 65 degrees so you had to run up and being tackled by someone, and it’s a lot of fun. It’s actually way more physical in that regard than the first two films, something I could equate it to would maybe be in the first one when me and Sulu have this fight outside in this giant — I don’t even know what it was but… It’s definitely the most physical film.

Garfield

Alcon Entertainment plans to create a new Garfield movie. Thankfully, this one will be animated rather than blending in elements of live-action. [CBR]

Fear the Walking Dead

The show will return in the US from its midseason break on Sunday, August 21. [Comicbook.com]
