Video: It’s common knowledge that nearly a decade ago, we almost got Justice League Mortal, a DC team-up movie that would have been helmed by Mad Max director George Miller. The script has been floating around the internet for a while now, but listening to it being read by a full cast — not the original cast, sadly — really lets you imagine what might have been.
Kieran and Michele Mulroney’s script hit the internet in 2013, and at the time the consensus was that it tried to do too much with DC’s vast pantheon of heroes, too fast (now where have we heard that argument since?). But even then, it’s still fascinating to see it being performed.
This video comes from a recent event at the Comic Bug comics store in Manhattan Beach, California, and while it’s epically long — clocking in at just under two and a half hours — it’s definitely worth watching. (That’s Starship Trooper‘s Casper Van Dien reading for Clark Kent/Superman, by the way.) The DC cinematic universe could have been a very, very different place if this had made its way to the big screen.
