If you haven’t seen TJ Miller on Silicon Valley, you’ll almost certainly recognise him as the bar owner from Deadpool. Miller serves a similar purpose in both pieces of media — that of deadpan comedy relief. And while we get to see the very best lines and delivery from the actor, these are often curated from a much larger selection.
In this scene Silicon Valley, Miller’s character Erlich Bachman meets with Stephen Tobolowsky’s Jack Barker and almost immediately begins to make fun of him for his age. Obviously, only a few of the lines made it into the final cut, but as you can see from this video, there was almost five minutes’ worth of material.
If you’re wondering how Tobolowsky keeps it together during Miller’s tirade, well, he doesn’t. Keep a close eye on his back during the zoomed out shots where both actors are visible and you’ll note Tobolowsky is laughing. A lot.
Can’t really blame him… some of those insults are beyond ludicrous.
