We’re Getting Closer To A Jumanji Reboot, Starring Kevin Hart And The Rock

The beloved Robin Williams movie is getting closer than ever to a reboot, though nothing is set in stone just yet. Variety reports that Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart are in talks to star in the remake scripted by Scott Rosenberg (Gone in 60 Seconds, High Fidelity) and Jeff Pinkner (The Amazing Spider Man 2).

Jake Kasdan is slated to direct.

A reboot has been discussed since at least 2012, when it was mentioned by Columbia Pictures president Doug Belgrad in a Q&A, when it was rumoured to be written by Zach Helm (Stranger Than Fiction).

Will it really be Jumanji without Williams’ frenetic humour, or the horrifying early 90s CGI? Maybe not. But Johnson and Hart might have the opportunity to reinvent that childhood magic for a new generation. And perhaps its for the best that kids never have to grow up worrying about psychotic shotgun-wielding monkeys.
