Hey, remember how HBO freaked out about episodes of Game of Thrones leaking and put everything on lock down? Well, that prohibition doesn’t apply to the POTUS.
Just last month, HBO confirmed that, for the first time ever, critics and reviewers wouldn’t receive early copies of the episodes. They were really, really, intent on keeping everything a surprise. You cannot blame them for caring less about all that when they got a call from the White House.
At the premiere event on Sunday, David Benioff and Dan Weiss told interviewer Veronica Belmont that, yes, they were asked if President Obama could see season six early. And their answer? “Yes,” Weiss replied. “He’s the leader of the free world.”
“When the commander-in-chief says, ‘I want to see advanced episodes,’ what are you gonna do?” said Benioff.
Hand over the episodes, I guess. And hope that no one in the White House decides that this is the top secret information that must be shared with the public.
