One of the most famous Star Wars characters not in The Force Awakens makes his sequel trilogy debut in a new Lego short film set right before the events of the film. Nice to see you again, Lando Calrissian. Star Wars and Lego just released the second, third and fourth short films in The Resistance Rises, an ongoing series of stories set during or just before the events of The Force Awakens. The first one featured Poe Dameron and C-3P0. The second features Han Solo and Chewbacca dealing with those pesky rathtars:
That's a lot of fun, but it's this third film that really packs a punch. It's set in Maz Kanata's castle and shows both the Guavian Death Gang and Kanjiklub looking for Solo. They fight over a very familiar Star Wars argument, we see some more of Maz's skills and then that aforementioned classic character makes an appearance.
Yup, that's Lando Calrissian, putting the pirates off the scent of Solo. Or maybe not. The Guavians and Kanjiklub actually do end up tracking Solo down near Jakku, which seems pretty coincidental. Is Lando betraying his friend yet again? Is this a devious hint as to his post-RotJ future? Or is this just fun nonsense? We'll put our credits on the latter.
The fourth one is focused on Rey. Not only does it continue the story from the short above, there's a nice wink to Star Wars Rebels in there too. More canon discussion!
