Aquaman

In the wake of criticism about Batman v Superman‘s tone, director James Wan says that Aquaman‘s solo movie, like Justice League, will be lighter in tone:

I think Aquaman is a character that a lot of people have made fun of over the years, and I just think it’s fun to actually show a really different, cool, badass side to this character. But the same time, let’s not forget to have fun with it.

Marvel’s Most Wanted

Following up on recent reports about their casting, TV Line claims to know a bit more about the characters Oded Fehr and Fernanda Andrade are playing. Andrade will play Christina Santos, the niece of Dominic Fortune (played in the series by Delroy Lindo), while Oded Fehr plays an as yet unconfirmed, but apparently major, “well-known” character from Marvel’s comics, who is “a force to be reckoned with”. Speculate away!

The Walking Dead

Robert Kirkman discusses subverting fan expectations with Negan’s introduction, and his most famous moment in the comic series:

I think everybody on the show recognises it for the iconic, monumental moment that it is in the comic book series. No one is discussing not doing something like that in the show. It’s a very big part of his introduction and we want to do it justice.

But something as well known as that moment — maybe it would seem like it wouldn’t be a great thing if we did an exact sort of thing just because people might be expecting it. All I want to say is, read the comic, but you’re not going to know what to expect. Part of the reason that that moment was such a big deal in the comic is the fact that you did not expect that it was going to happen, and so we’re very confident that we found a way to keep it as unexpected in the show as it was in the comic. So it should be just as intense, just as heartbreaking, and just as shocking.

Preacher

The writer of the original comic, Garth Ennis, discusses how the adaptation differs from the series:

It was listening to Seth talk about how he saw it coming to the screen, what should be emphasised, what should be held back, what he wanted to play up a bit more than he had seen in the comic. It was really the sense I was getting that he was talking about letting the story breathe. Not going in at 200 miles an hour, like the comic starts. In other words: not trying to put the comic on the screen. Taking the story, leaving the comic behind and doing a TV show.
