Lunch Time Deals: $500 Off An Alienware 15 R2 Gaming Laptop

When you're buying your lunch today, you might want to take a moment and spend a little more. Gizmodo's Lunch Time Deals posts point out any particularly good bargains for Aussie bargain hunters around the 'net. Today, you can save yourself $500 off Alienware's mid-range 15-inch R2 gaming laptop, driving its price below $2000.

The Alienware 15 R2 is a pretty gutsy rig for a laptop, even in the moderate spec that JB Hi-Fi is selling it at through this week's Instant Deal. This particular Alienware 15 R2 runs an Intel Core i7-6700HQ CPU, has 8GB of 2133MHz DDR4 and a 128GB M.2 SSD running Windows 10 with a 1TB mechanical disk for bulk storage. Its graphics card is an OK-but-not-amazing Nvidia GeForce GTX 965M with 2GB of GDDR5 RAM; that's not a huge issue though, especially when you think about the fact that this particular laptop has Alienware's excellent Graphics Amplifier port, which lets you plug in an external GPU for desktop-grade gaming.

Considering this particular spec goes for $2499 on Alienware's website, it's not a bad bargain at all. To score yourself this deal, you'll need to be signed up to JB Hi-Fi's weekly Instant Deals newsletter -- that gives you a unique coupon to use online or in-store. If you haven't already signed up, you'll get this week's deal in your inbox when you do. [JB Hi-Fi]

Not bad. I personally own the 17 R2 and love it.

You can get the 17 R3 for not much more than this one though -

You can also get it cheaper from B&H if you don't mind a used one -

Also I recommend anyone getting one of these laptops to buy the graphics amp at the same time, there's every chance that they will discontinue it and you'll be left without upgrade-ability. -

This is what the yanks have inside their Alienware R2 laptop saw it on Amazon
Intel Quad Core i7-6700HQ 2.6 GHz Processor
    16 GB DDR4
1 TB HDD + 256 GB SSD Storage; Optical Drive Not included
    15.6 Inch FHD (1920 x 1080 pixels) LED-lit Truelife Screen
Windows 10 Operating System; Epic Silver Chassis
Isn't it amazing how it is called a good deal in this article when i have copied and pasted what the Americans are getting inside their alienware R2 now it say their full price is $1799.99 and their sale price is this $1,579.00 not such a bargain really when you look at their full price. Ours has HALF the ram and a smaller Ssd why?Heres something else that pisses me off looking at some of their comp shop and they had an Acer Predater $1,999 here i saw $3,799 and $3,350 now surely it can't cost that much to get it here and yes i know we have to pay, but please even their graphics cards are double here it just can't be right.
