How Much Faster Can You Boil A Kettle With Thermite?

As we’ve seen in the past, Colin Furze has the right mix of crazy inventor and mad scientist. His latest excessively unsafe experiment? Boiling a kettle with thermite. Yes, that thermite.

If this feels a little familiar, Furze built a jet-powered kettle about a year ago. I guess he decided the topic warranted revisiting, so he went and built this thermite kettle.

Surprisingly, it doesn’t boil the water that much faster than a conventional device, but it’s certainly more impressive. And dangerous.

Anyway, the problem with tea isn’t so much waiting for the kettle to boil, it’s the brewing and cooling time that delays one’s sipping enjoyment. All Furze needs to do is build an all-in-one contraption that can handle all aspects of tea enjoyment and I’ll be first in line.
