D-Link's Wireless Router Twins Ensure There Are No Dead Spots in Your House

Even with countless antennas pointing in all directions, most consumer-level routers can't create a Wi-Fi network that covers every last corner of a large house. So instead of selling you a wireless extender once you realise that, D-Link now has a kit with twin routers that guarantees comprehensive Wi-Fi coverage from day one. The Unified Home Wi-Fi Network Kit is D-Link finally admitting that today's McMansions are too large for even an expensive home Wi-Fi router to provide complete coverage. So for $US370 ($516), available sometime in the second quarter of 2016, the company has bundled its AC4300 Tri-Band MU-MIMO Wi-Fi Router, and its AC1300 Gigabit Wi-Fi Extender, so that consumers can finally ensure that their Wi-Fi network, even in those distant back bedrooms, is rock solid from the moment it's up and running.

The bundled hardware boasts tri-band Wi-Fi, including a single 2.4GHz band and two 5GHz bands, as well as multi-user MU-MIMO technology that assigns wireless devices to specific antennas to help ensure simultaneous data transmissions don't get bogged down across the network. In simpler terms: it's definitely a feature you'll want if a house full of people is trying to watch Netflix in HD at the same time

The other advantage to having a pair of wireless devices designed to work flawlessly together is that the D-Link Unified Home Wi-Fi Network Kit can ensure that whatever's connected to your Wi-Fi network will talk to either the main AC4300 router or the AC1300 extender depending on which can provide a better signal at the time.

As you move from one area of your house to another the handoff between the D-Link devices should happen without a hiccup, and they will even work together to ensure the network load is automatically balanced across the various wireless bands they support to minimise slow downs. Most importantly, though, is that these bundled devices are designed to talk to each other right out of the box. So setup should be easy enough for even your parents to get it running on their own -- if you're so lucky.

    And I remember when the wifi G standard was released. It was promised that signals would blast through walls for up to 100m - yet one room in my house that is 5m from the router couldn't get a strong enough signal for devices to work.

    Will this reach 3 floors unit?

    I've tried almost all brands except linksys and asus, the one that I currently have is Billion which fortunately able to reach level 3.

    I have a similar set-up and my Dlink gear has a habit of not doing the handover between WAPs on the same subnet very well. Perhaps their MAC spoofing protection is a little too aggressive. But regardless, it's annoying having to reboot a WAP just because it keeps refusing to let a device reconnect or needing to allocate every single device a static IP.
