Google’s been granted a patent for what looks like the follow-up to Glass, its original and widely-ridiculed headpiece. The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has approved the company’s 2012 patent submission, which comprises a wiggly heads-up-display that appears to wrap around one side of the user’s head.

Despite its new design, this is unmistakably a Glass spin-off. Like its predecessor, it features a small screen that floats in front of the eye and looks like something no self-respecting person would ever want to wear in public. Great stuff so far then.
Google’s also expected to integrate a mini camera that can film the world from the wearer’s perspective, which definitely won’t lead to any controversy. That’s not all though, as new GG is also believed to have some augmented reality tricks up its sleeve (or frame). Like Microsoft’s HoloLens, it could be capable of projecting virtual stuff into the user’s field of vision, essentially transforming the world into a weird computer simulation.
