After rattling off the introduction of most of Apple’s recent flagship products, GOP presidential candidate Carly Fiorina announced that she’ll be able to get tech companies to work with the government on security issues because she “knows them”.
Fiorina was the CEO of Hewlett-Packard, and she certainly has deeper ties with Silicon Valley than most of the other candidates. But suggesting that she’ll be able to use those ties to convince companies like Apple and Facebook to do what the government asks is a dubious statement, considering one of her most high-profile deals with Steve Jobs ended up with Fiorina gladly eating shit in a deal terrible for HP and great for Apple.
Fiorina doesn’t have a reputation in Silicon Valley as a persuasive dealmaker. She has a reputation as a failure.
