We Dropped This Smartphone Over And Over Again To Test Its Shatterproof Screen

We are in the midst of reviewing the recently announced Motorola Droid Turbo 2, and one of the most interesting features of the phone is its supposedly shatterproof display. Any phone can survive one or two errant drops. But what about seventy?

As you can see in our video above, the Droid Turbo 2 does indeed survive all manner of droppage. The screen was certainly scratched up, the bezel took a beating, and the SIM card tray came out a bunch of times. But nothing happened that affected the functionality of the phone!

Nice job, Motorola. Sadly, the Droid 2 Turbo is a CDMA-only handset built for Verizon in the US. Translation: we won't see it in Australia. Hopefully this screen tech makes it onto the next model!

That is pretty impressive indeed. Also impressed that the guts also seemed to handle the falls ok as well.

A little more research would have been nice, to give some good news to hopeful Australian buyers: there's a 3G/LTE version called the Moto X Force that misses out on the Droid and Verizon branding, but still has the big battery and shatterproof screen.

Reminds me of my HTC One. I dropped that thing dozens and dozens of times because I used it for my job where I walk around a lot and the screen never broke. Unfortunately, it seems that it hasn't gone completely unscathed as it seems to have developed mild digital Alzheimer's and forgets my settings and saved dictionary words and such every now and then.
