The ASUS ZenWatch 2 Is Out In Australia Next Week

The Android Wear-powered ZenWatch 2 will be available in Australia from December 1, ASUS announced today — just in time for the Christmas rush.

The smartwatch, produced in partnership with Google, boasts two sizes and three case colours, along with five different strap and colour combinations. It will also work with the Wellness smartphone app to provide fitness tracking features, tailored for running and cycling.

The ZenWatch 2 boasts customisability as a priority, designed to let wearers personalise their device to their own “unique sense of style”. Aside from Google Play’s standard downloadable watch faces, the ZenWatch 2 also comes with an app that will let users design their own. Other features of the entry-level smartwatch include a magnetic charger, fitness tracking sensors,a Gorilla Glass 3 screen and a choice of leather, rubber or metal as the band material.

The ZenWatch 2 provides standard Android Wear functionality, with support for iOS integrated as well. ASUS has also enhanced the original ZenWatch’s popular Remote Camera, letting users display and control their phone’s camera remotely. The improvements from the last version include “faster performance, more range, the ability to switch between the phone’s front and rear cameras, and zoom capability.”

With an IP67 water resistance, meaning it can safely be immersed up to 1m, the ZenWatch is designed for continued wear even in the shower or during exercise. A battery life of up to two days compliments this design, reaching three days of battery usage when on standby.
