Make Your Own Shortcut Keys In Windows 10

The standard keyboard shortcuts for Windows 10 are all well and good — but have you ever wanted to create your own key combinations to launch the apps you use most often? It’s not difficult to set up, and the feature has been built into Windows for a long time. Here’s how to access it.

First, you need to find a shortcut to the application — this could be in the program’s folder, on the desktop, or on the Start menu. If you can’t find a shortcut, right-click on the relevant executable file and choose Create shortcut. Dragging anything from the Start menu to the desktop (including universal Windows apps) is an easy way of creating a shortcut.

Right-click on the shortcut (when you’ve found or created it), then choose Properties from the menu that appears. Click in the Shortcut key box and type out the combination you want to use: It has to start with Ctrl+Alt and you can add a letter, number or function key. After clicking on OK, your shortcut should be ready to go.
