Apple’s New Lightning Dock Is A Thing Of Beauty

Where the old Apple Lightning Dock was only available in white, the new one matches the colours of the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus — in silver, space grey, champagne and rose gold. It’s a gorgeous little thing, too.

The new dock is officially only compatible with the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus and previous Lightning iPhones and iPods Touch, but you could probably get away with temporarily charging an iPad Mini, too. It’s super-simple, but that’s a big point in its favour.

It has a 3.5mm connector just like the old one, so you can hook it up to headphones or a larger speaker system to boost your iPhone’s sound when it’s docked. And, of course, a Lightning connector to charge or sync. You can pick one up for $75 from the Apple Store.

The old, white dock was perfectly functional, and this one is no different. It’s just metal, and metal is cool. We have one in the office alongside two shiny iPhones — and we wanted to show it off. So here it is:
