According to a detailed study from Ofcom, the UK version of the FCC, different generations have vastly different attachments to internet devices: the grandparents can’t live without the TV, and (surprise surprise) you’d have to wrest the smartphones from millenials’ cold, dead hands.
What surprised me in the study was the variation: it’s not just a straight fight between smartphones and TVs; tablets have a big boom in the middle-age category, but tweens don’t seem to touch them.
For me, it’s a straight fight between my laptop and my smartphone; better Netflix-viewer versus Angry Birds on the toilet. When the (internet-enabled) zombie apocalypse comes, which device will you be grabbing on your way out the door?
