Never underestimate the devotion and dedication of a few hardcore fans. R.B.I. Baseball and Tecmo Super Bowl were originally released for the NES way back in 1986 and 1991 respectively. But both games are still available today, and in cartridge form, but with updated 2015 player rosters thanks to the dedicated folks at Tecmo Bowlers.

Each game plays exactly like it did over 24 years ago, and each cartridge works in a classic NES console for those who still have theirs hooked up. R.B.I. Baseball now includes all 30 of the major league teams — not just 10 like the original — plus a player lineup based on the 2015 opening day roster. The same goes for Tecmo Super Bowl Unrivalled, but the classic football game has also been upgraded with four additional plays to keep gameplay fresh.

And although both games can be downloaded, modified, and played using an emulator, these $US50 cartridges just have more nostalgic appeal. Besides, it’s far more satisfying to throw a classic NES controller across the room after an interception, than your entire laptop. [Tecmo Bowlers via Technabob via The Roosevelts]
