A few weeks ago, we asked you which classic gadget you’d turn into a smartphone. We asked because we have a friend who specialises in bringing fantastic phone concepts to life. We gave him a few of the top ideas, and once again, he’s made some magic happen.
Ladies and gents, meet Smart Boy, the Game Boy-inspired smartphone. Designed by Pierre Cerveau, it has everything a Nintendo lover could dream of giving a phone, from a ‘Game Bat’ controller that turns the thing into a DS to a power-saving 8-bit mode. I might actually cry because this beautiful phone will probably never be made.
Cerveau finished up these renders late last week, which sadly coincided with the passing of Nintendo president Satoru Iwata. So he decided to pay his respects with a final render:
