DJ Porter Robinson Is A Massive Geek

You wouldn’t know it from looking at him, but DJ Porter Robinson is a game-loving, Avril Lavigne-listening super-geek.

Porter Robinson’s first exposure to electronic music came when his brother brought home a copy of Dance Dance Revolution, and a dance mat to play on. “I just fell in love with it immediately,” Robinson tells The Feed’s Marc Fennell. That was when he was 12 years of age.

In the span of a decade, Porter Robinson went on to teach himself how to arrange loops, create songs and has gone on to remix tracks for Skrillex, release his own incredible album and perform at festivals like SXSW, Coachella and Tomorrowland.

He’s currently touring around Australia with the Worlds show, and if you’ve ever been a fan of video games, 16-bit art or great dance music, you’ll absolutely love the show.

You get just a taste of it in his interview with The Feed, but Porter Robinson is a huge geek. He’s sung duets with Japanese robots on his track Sad Machine and Flicker. His song Lionhearted is actually written about Space Invaders!

It’s a great chat, and you should watch it.

Also, the footage captured at the Enmore was taken by yours truly on the LG G4. That camera is insane.
