Woolworths' Connect Prepaid Mobile Plans Start Next Monday

Woolworths Connect is a new prepaid mobile service using (parts of) Telstra's nationwide 3G network, and it kicks off from next Monday. There are two plans available, and they look like pretty good value if you like a lot of cheap data and if you don't make too many calls.

A prepaid recharge of $30 will net you 1.5GB of data, unlimited SMS and $650 of calls (at 90 cents per minute) for use within 30 days, while $45 bumps you up to 3.5GB of data and $1500 call value, still within that 30 day usage period. If you recharge in-store or at participating partners — likely Caltex servos and the like — you'll get a 10 per cent discount, bringing the per-purchase prepaid costs down to $27 and $40.50 respectively. The initial SIM purchase will set you back a princely $2 in Woolies supermarkets.

There are also three prepaid mobile broadband data-only services coming, all through Telstra 3G as well — for $15, $30 and $100. You'll find these allowances below. The Woolworths Connect website isn't up and running just yet, but presumably you'll be able to recharge and buy services online if you can't get out to a supermarket.
